CZESLAWA (CHARLOTTE) PILOZOW

Czeslawa (Charlotte) Pilozow passed away peacefully on July 11, 2026, at the age of 92.

A loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and cherished friend, Charlotte lived a life marked by resilience, love and an unwavering commitment to family. Her warmth, strength and generous spirit touched everyone who knew her.  Her memory will remain forever in the hearts of those she loved.

Charlotte was predeceased by her father, Wladislaw Lorenc; her mother, Agnieska Zurek (née Pieczonka); her stepfather, George Zurek; her beloved husband, Henry Pilozow; her son, Ted Pilozow; her daughter-in-law, Eleanor Pilozow; her sister-in-law, Marusia Zurek, brother Henryk and sister -in-law Janina Lorenc.

She is lovingly remembered by her son, Jerry (Dusanka); her grandson, Warren; her granddaughters, Michelle (John), Stephanie (Kevin) and Lindsay (Wes); her great-grandchildren, Lincoln, Cooper and Casey; her brother, Kasmir Zurek (Odette); her daughter-in-law, Barbara Pilozow; and her nieces, Bozena Langtry and Lucy Morrow, whose love and compassion brought Charlotte comfort and peace in her final days.

Charlotte was born on September 18, 1933, in the village of Polska Wola, in the Province of Stanislawow, Poland. Her early life was forever changed by the outbreak of the Second World War. In 1940, Charlotte and her family were exiled to Siberia, where they endured great hardship, loss and starvation. In 1942, they embarked on an epic journey through Uzbekistan, Persia, Kenya and Tanzania before settling in the village of Tengeru for six years. After the war, Charlotte relocated to England and later immigrated to Winnipeg in 1949.

In Winnipeg, Charlotte met the love of her life, Henry. Together they built a life rooted in love, faith, compassion and devoted themselves to raising their sons with those same values.

Charlotte's love language was food. She delighted in entertaining and feeding family, friends, and visitors until no one left the table hungry. She was an avid gardener who loved growing fresh vegetables and enjoyed excursions to gather wild mushrooms for traditional Polish Christmas Eve dishes. Her homemade borscht was legendary and every meal she prepared reflected the love she had for her family.

She was proud of her Polish heritage and was actively involved with the Sokol Choir and Folk Ensemble, the Polish Seniors' Club, and the Polish Pavilion at Folklorama. A devoted lifelong member of Holy Ghost Church, her faith in God was the foundation of her life.

Always an elegant lady, Charlotte was rarely seen without a skirt, heels and perfectly coiffed hair—whether celebrating New Year's Eve at SKP, walking Charlie the dog, going to bingo, or even standing on a chair to clean the gutters at her home on Colish Drive.

Charlotte's resilience, grace and devotion to family will continue to inspire all who knew and loved her. The lessons she taught through her life—faith, perseverance, generosity and unconditional love—will live on in her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Prayers will be held on Friday, July 24 at Holy Ghost Church, 341 Selkirk Ave., at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Holy Ghost Cemetery. A reception will be held at Cropo Funeral Chapel (1442 Main St).

The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Holy Family Personal Care Home, Unit 4A, for their kindness, compassion and exceptional care over the past several years.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Charlotte's memory to charity of ones choice.
