Obituary of Angela Ashton
Angela Teresa Ashton (Angie) Nee: Lynch
"Ar dheis D go raibh a h-anam dlis" (May her faithful soul be at God's right side)
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our mother on May 3, 2009. She leaves to mourn, daughters Susan and Naomi (Dwight), grandchildren, Rachel (Walter), Leslie (Sarah), Gordon, Joshua, great-granddaughter Kylie and numerous nieces and nephews in Ireland and England.
Mom was born in Navan, Ireland on September 11, 1929 to Joseph and Mary. In her early 20's she moved to England where she married her husband Brian and began her family. In 1965 they immigrated to Canada to start of a new life chapter.
While in Canada she lived in various communities in Manitoba and Saskatchewan, making numerous wonderful lifelong friends along the way. Mom was known for her kind warm heart, her great zest for life and her wonderful sense of humour. Mom lived her life with a smile on her face, a twinkle in her eye and a skip in her step, always willing to lend a hand wherever she could. Her favourite words were "I have a new joke for you". Mom faced many adversities in her life but had a deep faith, which carried her throughout. Together with her deep faith, her many friends and family she was able to overcome many obstacles. This unending faith enabled her to make very courageous decisions right to the end.
Ireland always remained in Mom's heart. She returned for many visits throughout the years, allowing her to maintain a very close loving relationship to her multi-generational nieces and nephews.
Mom was predeceased by her parents and her siblings: Jimmy, Molly, Kathleen, Joe, Bill and Pat.
Please join us in the celebration of Mom's life at St. Peters Anglican Church, 755 Elm Street, Winnipeg on May 8, 2009 at 1:00 pm. Interment to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mom's memory to Jocelyn House.
A Memorial Service will take place at the same time and date in Navan, Ireland.
