Obituary of Wilbert DREHER
WILBERT LAURENCE DREHER
On Friday, June 5, 2009, Bert Dreher peacefully passed away at Deer Lodge Centre at the age of 86. Bert was born on August 18, 1922 in Bromhead, Saskatchewan.
Bert was predeceased by his daughter Debbie, sister Lillian, brothers Henry, Rubin, and Vernon, and his parents, Albert and Louise Dreher.
Bert leaves to mourn his passing, his wife Bea (nursing home), daughter Arlene of BC, 2 sisters Mary Hainsworth, Lavern Brenholen, sister-in-law Flo Dreher of SK, many extended family members, also his church family.
Bert grew up on his parents' farm, with 3 sisters and 3 brothers. He met and married Bea Douville. They had two daughters Debbie and Arlene. Bert served in the Canadian Army 1942 - England then again in1948. Bert then joined the Calgary Police Dept. and in 1957 joined the RCAF military police serving in Canada and Germany retiring as a sergeant in1967.
Bert found employment at the University of Manitoba and retired 18 years later. After retirement he continued to operate a small landscaping business. Bert will be remembered for his generosity and his ministry as an Elder, of the Community of Christ.
Bert lived his remaining years at Deer lodge Center on T7. Many thanks to all who were involved with his care.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 13 at 11:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street.
