Obituary of Miroslaw TUTAJ
MIROSLAW TUTAJ
Peacefully, after a lengthy illness, on April 18, 2009, at Seven Oaks Hospital, Miroslaw Tutaj, beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away at the age of 75.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years Helen, daughters Ola, Mary, and Margaret (Michael), grandchildren Mathew and Megan of Mississauga, sister Aleksandra of Creston, B.C, and numerous relatives in Canada and Poland. He was predeceased by his father Miroslaw, mother Julia, and brother Lech.
Miroslaw was born in Andrychow, Poland on June 20, 1933 and immigrated to Canada in 1961 where he met and married his wife Helen in 1964. He worked as a steel worker at Inland Steel for more than 20 years and later at Motor Coach Industries until his retirement in 1992. He was a "jack of all trades" and loved to tinker in the garage till all hours. He loved to fix things and was always ready to lend a helping hand. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved 'mushroom picking', camping, but most especially fishing. Family and friends were very important to Miroslaw…especially his grandchildren, whom he was able to visit with in his last days.
A heartfelt thank you to his wife Helen, who chose an early retirement to care for her husband during his illness. Her care and devotion were endless. The family wishes to extend their gratitude for the loving care and compassion Miroslaw received at Seven Oaks Hospital, 5th floor, throughout the past year and to St. Joseph's Residence, which became his new home in December.
Prayers will be held on Thursday, April 23 at 7:00 pm at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, April 24 at 10:00 am at Holy Ghost Roman Catholic Church, 341 Selkirk Ave with interment to follow at Holy Ghost Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jaroslaw Balewicz, Andrzej Dobosz, Michael Kaczmarek, Zygmunt Kaczmarek, Zdzichu Kuczma, and John Osadczuk.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Holy Ghost Parish, St. Joseph's Residence or Seven Oaks General Hospital Foundation.
Thanks for the many years you gave us. We will remember you in our hearts forever.
