BRYAN WAYNE SHORE

Bryan passed away peacefully with his family by his side on the morning of January 8, 2024.

Bryan is survived by his children Jennifer Novak (Jason), son Tyler Shore (Samantha) grandchildren Dylan, Samantha, Matthew, Dany & Colton Novak, Tristan and Evan Shore. Sister in-law Janet Shore (the late Dale Shore) of Pickering, Ontario., nephews Kyle, Patrick & their families, niece & Goddaughter Karen Nolan “Southern Belle” of South Carolina, & her family. Brother in-law Dean Bleakney & nephew David, niece Sharon and their families of Thunder Bay, Ontario. His dearest friend Jace Richarde (Jessica)& the Princess’ Janie, Everleigh & Chloe. His beloved pets, Irish setter girl Charley and Momma Cat. 

Bryan was predeceased by his beloved wife Daphne of 54 years, his parents Jack & Bessie Shore, his brother Dale Shore, nephew Kevin Shore. His in-laws Jack, Eva & Alice Bleakney. Daphnes Aunt Bessie Barton and sister in-law Shirley Bleakney. As well as life long friend Gabe Torchia.

Bryan was born in St. Boniface Hospital, schooled in Transcona and then went to work for the CN Rail in the late 50’s. Bryan spent 34 years with the CN in various departments lastly in Engineering Signals & Communications.

Bryan & Daphne had lived over the years in Rivercrest, Lockport & Springfield, returning to Transcona in 1997. They had been actively involved in purebred dogs since the early 70’s, breeding & showing Irish & English setters. They purchased a large Boarding Kennel in 1988 which they ran successfully for 9 years, as well as an active partnership in a successful Dog Training Centre for 21 years.

Bryan loved cooking, reading, music, buying and selling antiques. Last year he embraced gardening and had a real green thumb. But most of all dad was all about his family and friends. Whether it be breakfast with the boys Roy & Bill at either the Sals or Tova Cafe or shopping trips with his friend Ron. Most weeks he could be spotted at JLR Jewellers visiting his friend Jace planning their next big adventure while chatting up all those who came through the door. Dad made many friends through his lifetime he was a generous, kind and caring person and will be remembered fondly. In his youth he enjoyed his summers at Ottermere, Ontario with his brother Dale and fishing with his dad.

Bryan’s family would like to extend their thanks to Dr. John Ormiston for caring for our dad all these years and while in hospital for the past 2.5 months. As well as the staff on ward 3 at the Concordia hospital. A special thanks to the Palliative home care team including Tanya, Dr St. Godard and the nurses who cared for dad at home. A special thanks to dads’ home care team who helped us daily to take such good care of him especially his 3 regular lady’s who treated him like a friend not just a patient, dad was so very fond of you Magnolia, Susy & Nyallay. A special thanks to dads’ grand daughter Samantha who went above and beyond to make sure her grandpa had the best of care and comfort right until the very end. A special thank you to Dylan dads eldest grandson for moving into his home while in hospital and caring for him and his girls when he returned home he was so appreciative for all you had done.

At Bryan’s request cremation has already taken place a private family service will follow at a later date at his riverfront retreat in St. Vital Cemetery followed by a celebration of life for both mom and dad. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Bryan’s name to the Transcona Food Bank or a charity of your choice.
