Obituary of RYAN ANDREW CAPEK
RYAN ANDREW CAPEK
July 16, 1992 - January 11, 2024
With broken hearts, we announce the sudden and tragic loss of our beloved son and brother Ryan on January 11th, at the young age of 31.
Ryan was born July 16th, 1992, in Winnipeg, Manitoba to, Janet and Rob Capek. He arrived early as a premature baby, and sadly was taken from us far too soon. He graduated from Transcona Collegiate Institute in 2010. After graduation, he worked a few years in Winnipeg before embarking on his journey as a support worker for the last decade providing dedicated service to his clients in the Brandon and Carberry area. Ryan was so passionate and caring about his clients and consistently put their needs before his own.
Ryan is lovingly remembered by his parents, Janet and Rob, sister Lauren (Matt), his nana Winnie, family dog Isla, and his dearest cat Diesel. As well as numerous aunts and uncles: Mary Anne, Dave (Janet), Joan (Ray), Carol (Brent), Diane (Tom), Jim (Donna). Ryan will also be deeply missed by his cousins: Matthew and Michelle; Audrey and Theresa; Mike and Jon; Shane, Kevin and Alicia; and numerous second cousins. Ryan will be remembered and deeply missed by many of his closest friends especially Anthony and Andrew. Ryan was predeceased by his Grandpa Andrew and Grandma Anita, his special Papa John, Uncle Mike and Uncle Paul, and beloved pets Koko and Kailey.
A special heartfelt thanks to his cousin Michelle, her new husband Trent, and their cat Simba, for welcoming Ryan into their home in Shiloh the last few months with open arms. Ryan and Michelle, both enjoyed each other’s company and spent time reminiscing on special memories growing up as kids and Ryan was of course happy to help with her new cat, Simba.
Ryan had numerous interests and passions growing up including skateboarding, basketball, Pokémon cards, fishing, camping at Rushing River, swimming, and video games. In his early youth he was involved in Beavers, soccer, Tae Kwon-do, and playing guitar.
Ryan enjoyed many vacations with his family. His first road trip was at age 3 to Victoria and Vancouver to visit his dad’s family. Later, when Lauren had completed our family, a fun-filled road trip was made to Toronto and Niagara Falls, making sure to see Canada’s Wonderland and Marineland. In his teen years, he enjoyed his trip to Florida and Disney World. His favourite and most memorable trip was going to England to visit his mom’s English relatives and to see the historic sites, castles, and countryside that so intrigued him.
As an adult, Ryan enjoyed the finer things in life; he loved high-end fashion, jewelry, watches, and cologne. He had a love for connecting spiritually with crystals, watching classic movies, and listening to various genres of music. He shared in his dad’s passion of classic cars and had an extended interest in European sports cars.
Ryan was a person who was an example of all the goodness in the world. He was such a kind, loving, empathetic, generous, humorous, caring person who could chat with and take interest in anyone he met. He was an old soul and truly one of a kind. Ryan had a soft spot for animals, growing up with his cat Koko, and dogs Kailey and Isla. He rescued multiple cats that he found near his work, including his sweet cat Diesel and many other farm cats such as Whisp. Most recently, on the way home for his family Christmas, he rescued a dog that he spotted close to the highway on a dark, foggy evening. He reunited Motley with his family and saved their Christmas. This is just one of the many examples of who Ryan was, caring and always willing to help other people and animals.
A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, January 31, 2024 at 10:30 am at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street, with a reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Ryan’s memory to the Winnipeg Humane Society or any local animal rescue shelter of your choice.
Rest in peace our dearest Ryan. Spread your wings and be free, until we meet again one day. We’ll spend the rest of our lives missing, loving, and honouring you.
We’ll love you forever.
We’ll like you for always.
As long as we’re living, our baby you’ll be.
May the road rise to meet your soul…
May the wind be gentle at your back…
May the blessed sun of heaven now,
Shine warmly on your face…
