Obituary of MARIA MANUELA AGUIAR

Maria Manuela Avila de Melo Aguiar passed away peacefully on January 5, 2025 at home, at the age of 86 years.

She was predeceased by her mother, Maria Nesis Borges, father, Luis Avila de Melo, husband, Antonio Silua Aguiar, sister, Dulce, and brother, Luis.

Maria Manuela is lovingly remembered by her son, Tony who resided with her, grandchildren, Joshua (Jasmine), Stephanie, Jessica (Mickey), and great grandchildren, Oliver. She also leaves her sister, Liliana in Ponta Delgada, Azores, and many nieces and nephews.

Maria Manuela was born in São Pedro, Ponta Delgada and raised in Fasa de Cima, Ponta Delgada. She didn’t have much school because her father passed away at a young age, but she was raised by her mother along with her two sisters and brother.

Maria met her husband at an early age as they lived next door. The two got married on May 24, 1963. She worked many years at the post office cantina in São Miguel before coming to Winnipeg, Canada in 1970. Maria worked in a sewing factory and as a building cleaner and then became a housewife.

She enjoyed baking, music, and peddling around the yard in summer.

A service will be held on January 18, 2025 at Cropo Funeral Chapel at 1442 Main Street at 10:00 a.m.
