Sending you warm thoughts Cheryl and Wally.... I have very happy memories of the time we spent in Mexico. I'm so glad I had the chance to meet you and Jake. He was such a smiley character and his fun, loving nature and his willingness to share with even a total stranger is so much admired and will never be forgotten.

From the moment we met him, we realized that every thing that Jake did, he did with enthusiasm & zest, that made us all feel energized. He was always fun to have around & be around. He was also, generous to a fault, always wanting to do things and get things for the people he knew. The Marina will not be the same without him. We all loved him and he will be sorely missed. We knew Jake as a good neighbour and a friend. The character he brought to the winter morning coffee breaks in our kitchen are so memorable. The stories of his escapades were always highly entertaining. In his own way he always let us know how much he appreciated any help we gave him with tasks at home. The world does not have enough people with the character Jake had. We wish we could have enjoyed his unique personality for many more years. Cheryl and Wally, you know we will always be there to give you a helping hand.

Please accept my sincerest and deepest condolences and know that my prayers are with you (his family) in these trying times. I was shocked and saddened to hear of Jake's passing. I dealt with Jake while working at Nalco in Burlington, Ontario, and had the priviledge of getting to know him as an honest, loyal, forthright and VERY funny man. He could find humour in any given situation. And he so loved his family. Please remember that you may no longer have him as a husband / father / brother / uncle, but you now have a truly 'great' guardian angel. May God bless you and keep you out of harm's way. Regards Florence Boivin

It is with great sorrow that we learned of Jake's passing. I have known Jake for almost 20 years. Through the years, with the companies Jake has worked for, we have shipped many, many shipments. Jake was always the "problem solver - go to person" We'll miss you Jake. God Bless. Your friends at Nalco Canada

Hi Cheryl and Wally. Dave called me on Monday to give me the sad news. I learned a great deal about negotiating, customer service and selling from Jake. He was a professional and kept everyone on their toes when it came to serving his customers. I have many happy memories but the ones that stand out are the social times we enjoyed with the guys at Atomic, whether we were entertaining customers or meeting with the management staff. Jake was always front and centre in the planning, organizing and the entertaining. He loved being with the guys, telling stories & jokes. Jake said he always felt best after a shoe shine and a hair cut. In fact, Jake taught me how to spit polish my black leather shoes on one of our many business trips together. It is tragic that people like Jake are not able to live a long and healthy life. I witnessed the suffering he experienced with his back and neck injuries but he never let us down when it came to his commitments at the office. I also know how important his family was to him because he spoke of you, Wally, his Dad and siblings often and his comments were always full of love. We didn't always agree but we were always able to work out our differences and I always respected and valued Jake's opinion on whatever the issue. Please accept my sincere condolences and I hope to see you on Saturday. Dennis Engel
