Obituary of Emil Fuerst
Emil Fuerst
After a lengthy battle with cancer, at the age of 76, Emil passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 25, 2009 at Deer Lodge Centre, with family at his side.
He was predeceased by his wife Edna (October 1980) as well as his parents Wilhelm and Emma.
Emil will be lovingly remembered by his children Maureen (Ralph), Shawn (Melanie), Cori (Danny) and Leanne (Darryl), grandchildren Chelsea, Calli, Trenton, Travis, Macy and Emily, as well as other extended family and friends.
Emil was born in Ladywood, MB, spent his childhood in Beausejour, and resided in the north end of Winnipeg for most of his adult years. His garage was his "castle" and was always open for friends to drop by, swap stories and share a laugh or two. Emil worked many years for Comstock - Transmission Division and always enjoyed telling (and re-telling) stories about his adventures up north on the transmission lines. He left a lasting impression on all those who knew him.
Cremation has taken place, and a memorial service celebrating Emil's life will be held on Monday, August 31 at 11:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. A private family interment will be held at a later date.
If desired, donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society or Siloam Mission.
