Obituary of Isabel GALANTE

ISABEL GALANTE July 19, 1932 - March 31, 2010 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved sister, aunt, and friend at Health Sciences Centre at the age of 77 after a short battle with cancer. Isabel will be lovingly remembered by her sister Concei��o Galante; brother Jo�o Galante (Lorena); nephews and nieces Carlo, Joseph, Liliana, Jos� Manual, Carlos Alberto, Lorianne, Dennis, Paul, Roger and Kristin. Isabel was predeceased by her parents, Manuel and Maria Isabel; sister Luisa; brothers Jos� and Manual; and nephew Jos� Adriano. She was born in Lagoa, S�o Miguel, A�ores, Portugal, where she learned a strong work ethic doing needlework at a young age and working as a nanny. She immigrated to Canada in 1965 where she made a living working as a sewing machine operator for Tan Jay for 30 years. In her retirement she enjoyed volunteering and socializing with the many friends she made at the Arms of the Cross community; and contributed her time and gifted needlework crafts to many functions. She was loved by coworkers, family and friends for her kind nature and child like spirit. The family would like to thank the staff at the Health Sciences Centre and Dr. G. Fuzeta for their care. Prayers will be said on Tuesday, April 6th at 7:00 PM at Immaculate Conception Parish, 181 Austin Street North. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 7th at 10:00 AM also at the church. Interment to follow at Assumption Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Isabel's memory to Cancer Care Manitoba.
