Obituary of Ewa Godlewski
DR. EWA GODLEWSKI
With profound sadness and heavy hearts we announce the passing of our dearest mother and loving wife on the afternoon of Wednesday September 29, 2010, surrounded by family and prayer, after a six month battle with cancer that she bravely fought with humility, courage and conviction.
Born in Poland, she studied medicine in Warsaw, where she met her soulmate Wojciech Godlewski in 1972. They married in 1976 and within their nearly 38 years of loving marriage, they raised a son, Bart, twin girls, Kathy and Joanna, and recently welcomed their first grandchild, Kate. Ewa was always proud and celebrated the achievements of her children and extended family with her usual generosity of spirit.
Her gentle guidance and genuine concern proved a wonderful support to her family and touched all those who had the pleasure to meet her. The lasting impression she left was complimented by her wonderful smile, unique sense of humour and warm gaze.
A dedicated physician with a private practice in Psychiatry, she always took great pride in the successes of her patients and offered them the same kindness she showed her family.
Her soul always moved to the sound of a good tune and her feet followed soon after on the dance floor. She enjoyed the tranquility of the mountains as they reminded her of a family home in the Polish mountains she spent her summers at as a child.
We would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Dr. Lipschitz and nurse Margaret, Dr. Sharkey, Dr. Czarnecka, Dr. St. Goddard and nurse Germaine for your wonderful care and support of our Ewa during her illness.
Mom you will be forever missed. To the world you were somebody...to us you were the world.
Afterglow I'd like the memory of me to be a happy one
I'd like to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done
I'd like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways Of happy times and laughing times and bright and sunny days
I'd like the tears of those who grieve to dry before the sun of happy memories that I leave when life is done
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 2 at St. Andrew Bobola Roman Catholic Church, 541 Marion Street with Fr. Sebastian Gacki as the Celebrant. Entombment will be in St. Boniface Cemetery.
