Obituary of John Golowaychuk
JOHN (JOHNNY) K. GOLOWAYCHUK November 14, 1935 - December 27, 2010
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our dear husband, father, grandfather, on December 27, the day of Saint John's Feast.
Dad was born on November 14, 1935 in Pansy, Manitoba. As a child-young adult Dad worked on his parents farm until the age of 16-17. That was when he moved to Winnipeg and got a job at the Cowin Steel Co. Daddy loved his job and worked there until his retirement in 2000 at the age of 65.
Left to mourn him are his wife Alice of 43 years, son Dennis, daughter Kimberly and grandson whom he adored, his namesake John Santino.
Also left are his sister's Mary Zaporzan and Ann Karp, brother-in-law Stan and a few nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was predeceased by his mother Francis Golowaychuk, father Kost Golowaychuk, brother-in-law Danny Zaporzan, and adored nephew Bob Zaporzan.
Dad was a simple, yet very complex man. He was a man very few could understand. He had the gift of gab, boy he liked to talk. He liked to tell jokes and he had a funny sinister laugh. From time to time he angered a lot of people. Dad had a hard time showing his feelings. It was easier for him to show anger. Then he met his grandson, and for the first time in my dad's life he was able to show pure love. He took his baby grandson everywhere and bragged to anyone who would listen.
Through the eyes of his grandchild he saw what the meaning of life was.
