DORA KRISTIN GRAPENTINE
Peacefully on September 21, 2008 at Jocelyn House, Winnipeg, Dora Grapentine passed away at the age of 68.
Dora will be warmly remembered and sadly missed by her children Lee (Monika), Matthew, Cara, and Kristin (Todd); grandchildren Michael, Marina, Sophie, Taelan, and Luke; brother John (Jean); mother-in-law Mary Grapentine.
Dora was born on February 12, 1940 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, to Kristjan Eyolfur (Eyfi) and Athalheidur Brinhildur (Allie) Anderson. Following a move to Winnipeg and graduating from Churchill High School, she married Curtis Grapentine. After raising a family, she attended the University of Manitoba and completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. Later she worked as a youth care worker for girls at Marymound in Winnipeg.
Dora had a friendly and open-minded personality, and a wide range of interests including a love of the arts. She was an avid reader, and greatly enjoyed the natural landscape. Family and friends were important to her, as were Sunday dinner gatherings.
The family thanks the staff of the Palliative Care Program as well as the staff at Jocelyn House who kindly provided care and compassion.
In accordance with Dora's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 4th at 1:00pm at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dora's memory to Jocelyn House.
