Obituary of Franz GROSSNEGGER
FRANZ GROSSNEGGER
It is with very deep sadness that we announce the passing of Franz, at his home peacefully on September 30, 2008.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 56 years Inge; loving children Gerry and Evelyn; grandson Kevin; Kevin's dad Chris; brother Friedrich (Irma) and family; brother-in-law Herbert (Lotte) and family; many cousins in Austria and friends in Winnipeg and Austria.
He was predeceased by his mother Emilia; father Franz; brothers Tom and Otto; little sister Katherine and baby son Franz.
Franz was born October 9, 1920 in Austria. His mother died when he was only 9 years old. At the age of 18 he was drafted and sent into the War. He moved to Salzburg, Austria and learnt the trade of bricklaying. During a visit back home to Klagenfurt in Austria he met Inge. 6 months later they were married. In 1958 Franz and Inge came to Winnipeg where Gerry and Evelyn were born. Franz started his own masonry business and was very successful in building brick and stone house fronts and fireplaces, which will be admired for years to come.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 4 at 11:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street.
Flowers gratefully declined, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba.
