Obituary of Doris JOROWSKI
DORIS JOROWSKI (nee UNRAU)
Lovingly, with family members and friends at her side, Doris Jorowski passed away peacefully at Calvary Place on Saturday, February 21, 2009 at the grand age of 95.
Doris was born September 4, 1913 in Scobey Montana, along with a fraternal twin brother, who unfortunately passed away shortly after. She lived in the U.S. till she was seven, when her family returned to Winnipeg. Mom was always very proud of her dual citizenship.
Mom grew up and attended schools in Winnipeg and was employed as a Manageress at Moore's Restaurant. She met and married, Nicholas Jorowski, who said, when he first met her, "You're the girl I'm going to marry". They were married for 52 years, with Dad passing away July 24, 1986.
Mom had a keen wit, a great sense of humour and a zest for living. She loved to laugh, sing and dance. Her favorite pastimes were reading, playing Bingo and playing Cribbage. Mom's greatest joy was her family and friends. She was extremely proud of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Remaining to cherish Mom's memory are children and spouses: Joyce and Cliff; Stanley and Georgie; Ken and Debby. Six Grandchildren: Brent (Cathy); Kevin (Juliette); Bradley (Angela); Danielle (Darren); Darrin (Kathy) and Tara (Jo). And six Great-Grandchildren: Zachary, Andrew, Kalyssa, Danielle, Gage and Baby Brady, who was born on Mom's birthday last year. Life goes on. She will also be dearly missed by sisters-in-law Anne and Frances, and her beloved nieces and nephews.
Mom has been cremated, as was her wish. A Memorial Service to honour her life will be held on Wednesday, May 6 at 11 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street with Pastor Henry Schulz, of Calvary Place, officiating.
A special thank you to the wonderful staff at Calvary Place, who provided such loving care and attention to Mom - the 2nd Floor Nurses and Personal Care Workers; the Activities team; and the Directors. Also to her new friends there - Artist Agnes, Emma, Mary, Leo, Edith and Julia.
Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Place Personal Care Home or to your favourite charity. We're all going to miss you Mom. We were lucky to have you in our lives for so long.
