MICHAEL KIERNICKI January 24, 1925 - December 12, 2009
Peacefully on December 12, 2009, the Lord called Mike Kiernicki home to rest.
Mike will be sadly missed by his devoted wife Mary (Dudych) to whom he was married to for 59 years. In their years together they had many happy memories, which will be cherished forever.
He will also be missed by his four children, Dennis (Mona), Lawrence (Marie), Sharon LaCoste (Ron), Ken (Anita); eight grandchildren, Steven (Carol), Adam (Susie), Ryan (Aynsley), Kyle (Melissa), Vanessa, Michael, Cassandra, Marissa; two great-grandchildren, Ethan and Alexander. His family meant everything to him. He was always loving, generous and caring. He also leaves, his sisters, Martha Hnatishin, Sophia Kawaler (John), Ollie Bauer, Antoinette Kolodiejchuk and Helen Charrier. His sisters were very special to him. We would like to thank them for all their love and support. Left behind are many relatives and countless friends, which had a very special place in Mike's heart.
Mike was predeceased by his parents Stephen and Katherine; brother John; sister Anne Grycki; in-laws John and Nettie Dudych; brothers-in-law John Hnatishin, Lloyd Bauer, Bernie Kolodiejchuk, Carl Charrier, Mike Dudych, Bill Dudych and sister-in-law Helen Kiernicki.
Mike grew up in Pine Ridge, MB on the family farm. Mike started building homes in 1951 under the name "Kiernicki Construction". In 1960 the family moved to Winnipeg. After many years of hard work and building many custom built homes he retired in 1987. Mike and Mary enjoyed travelling. He loved to play cards, liked his cars, most of all he loved to spend time with family and friends. You were always welcome in his home.
A heartfelt appreciation goes to Dr. McMillan and to the wonderful caregivers at the Seven Oaks Dialysis Unit and Maples Personal Care Home for their love and care throughout his time of sickness.
We would like to thank Fr. Bohdan Lukie and his assistants for their spiritual and uplifting visits.
Prayers will be said on Wednesday, December 16 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Thursday, December 17 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Ukrainian Catholic Church; 250 Jefferson Ave. with Rev.
