Obituary of Jozef Kostek

Jozef Kostek It is with great sorrow and sadness that we announce the passing of our husband, father, and grandfather, Jozef Kostek, at the age of 73, with his family by his side Jozef passed peacefully May 23, 2010. Left to mourn his passing is his loving wife of 49 years, Krystyna, his son Roman (Barbara), daughter Jolanta (Marvin), grandchildren Zachary, Nicholas, Jonathan, and Alyssa, 2 sisters in Poland Emelia and Helena, along with numerous nieces and nephews, extended family and friends. Jozef was born in Poland on July 17, 1936 and immigrated to Winnipeg with his wife and children in March 1972. He worked at a variety of jobs with his last employer being CPR, from which he retired. Jozef was a member of Holy Ghost Parish for 38 years. He was also a member of St. John Cantius Club as well as their Seniors Club. Jozef had fervent love of sports, with soccer being his passion. He played soccer till the age of 39, and then continued his passion by managing several teams in the city. Jozef's last managerial duties were with the Sons of Italy Lions. The family would like to thank Dr. Kumar, Dr. Van Ameyde, as well as the caring staff of GH4 at Health Sciences Centre. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Jozef's name to a charity of your choice. Prayers will be said Thursday, May 27 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 28, at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Ghost Roman Catholic Church, 341 Selkirk Avenue.
