Obituary of Walter Peterson
Walter J. Peterson
Peacefully on July 3, 2010 at the age of 87 Walter passed away.
Dad is missed deeply by son Dr. Ron (Renata) and grandchildren Krystie (Aaron), Christian, Aaron, and Daniel.
Dad was predeceased by his wife Winnie, daughter Ann and parents Jan and Adolfina Piotrowicz.
At Isaac Newton High School he had leading roles in the operettas. Wally was a choir member at St. John Cantius where he met and married Winnie. He served with the RCAF in WWII then worked for Winnipeg Hydro where he was president of the clerical union local 500 now CUPE and then progressed to Personnel Manager. Staff were like family.
He was known for his compassion, respect, help, good humour, and was teased about his pipe and affectionately called the "Polish Prince".
He served 47 years in the civic service, the longest of any employee.
Dad was devoted with special love and pride for his family and grandchildren who lit up his life. He enjoyed summers at his cottage in Grand Marais with family, friends, and his dogs Pete 1, 2, and 3.
Special thanks to the staff at Maples Care Center (Marcie), Seven Oaks Hospital (Dr. Patel) and Msgr. S. Jaworski.
