Obituary of Leonard PETRASKO

LEONARD PETRASKO Surrounded by his family, Leonard Petrasko aged 73 years beloved husband of Lillian, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 25, 2009 at the St. Boniface Hospital. Leonard leaves to mourn his sons Allan (Gina), Ron (Suzanne); daughter Linda (Mark); grandchildren Samantha, Michael, Julianna, Derek, Shaina, Teagan and Ian. Leonard also leaves behind brothers and sisters Rudy, Dorothy (Casmir), Maryann (Alex), Shirley, Gloria (Ken), Eddie (Zinnia), John (Eleanor), Marlene (Neal), Margie (Ed), Larry (Bernice); brothers-in-law Harry and Peter and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; sister Leona; brothers-in-law Eddie and Walter and sister-in-law Lorraine. Leonard was born December 30, 1935 in Pineridge, Manitoba where he grew up and helped with the family farm. In 1961 Leonard married Lillian and shortly after opened his own auto body shop "L&N Autobody" which he operated for 17 years. After selling his business he greatly enjoyed fixing and selling cars from his backyard garage and did so until his last days. Leonard was a regular at Autopac auctions where he would meet his many friends. Leonard also loved his small greenhouse and garden and had an excellent green thumb. "Gigo" was known to his family for growing beautiful tomatoes and making his special dish cucumbers with sour cream. Dad enjoyed the company of his family and grandchildren and his faithful dog Dakota. Dad was also known for his kind heart to family and friends and will be greatly missed. Thanks to all the staff at Concordia and St. Boniface Hospitals for their extreme efforts and care. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, June 29 at 11:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street with cremation to follow. Interment of ashes at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook Street Winnipeg, MB R3C 2B7. VICHNAYA PAMYAT
