Obituary of Eleanor Phillips

Eleanor Myra Phillips On Monday July 5, 2010 Myra Phillips passed away at West Park Manor. Myra is survived by her children, Richard Phillips (Terry), Carolyn McLeod (Gavin) and Roderick Phillips (Natasha) Grandchildren Ian, Brian, Brooke, Michael, Mark and David. Myra also leaves her ex husband George Phillips. She was predeceased by her father James Douglas Shipley, mother Evelyn Shipley (Ellis) and brother Desmond Shipley. Myra was born March 10, 1928 in Shildon, County Durham, England. She lived in England thru her early adulthood. She moved to Kenya with her husband George in 1955 and her two eldest children, Richard and Carolyn were born there. In 1960 she moved to Winnipeg and shortly thereafter her son Roderick was born. Over the next 30 years she raised her children, and was active in volunteering, the arts and was a member of the Wildewood Club where she became an avid golfer. She traveled extensively and lived abroad in England and Australia with her family. Her last overseas trip was to attend the wedding of her son Roderick in Moscow, Russia. She was diagnosed with Alzheimer's shortly afterward and began her slow gentle descent. Myra was a proper English lady her entire life and was known for her "Myraisms" at both the Rosewood and West Park Manor where she spent her final years. The family would like to thank Dr. Moran de Mueller as well as the staff at both the Rosewood and West Park Manor for their care and compassion.
