Obituary of Paul PROCIUK

PAUL PROCIUK Paul Prociuk, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away at the age of 61 years after a short battle with cancer on December 26,2008. Besides his wife Jean, he is survived by daughters Terry (Dave) and Tania, mother Nellie, brothers John (MaryAnn), Peter (Sonya), Morris (Pat), Dennis (Bev), Ed (Nancy) and sister Donna (John). Also, brothers-in-law Willie (Olga), Jerry, Emile (Diane), sisters-in-laws Mary, Olga (Frank), Anne (Len) and numerous nieces and nephews; grandchildren Zachery, Samuel and Cayman. He was predeceased by his dad Matthew, sister-in-law Shirley, brothers-in-law Boris, Ben and Frank, nephews Colin and Owen. Paul was born and raised in Lonesand, MB where he later met and married the love of his life, wife Jean. Paul moved to Winnipeg where he began his career in banking. He changed career paths to work as a customs broker, but later found the most joy and satisfaction working in auto sales, starting his dream job at Parkside Ford, retiring from Ed Vickar Community Chevrolet. Paul was an executive member of the Holy Eucharist Ukrainian Catholic Brotherhood and with the Knights of Columbus for many years. He also served with the Manitoba Motor Dealers Association. Paul was a great lover of the outdoors. He spent many wonderful years on family vacations, which included camping, road trips through both Canada and the United States. He especially enjoyed sunning himself on the beaches in Cuba and Mexico. Paul was also musically inclined with the accordion as his instrument of choice; his daughters would join in with Terry on the guitar, Tania playing the piano and Jean on the spoons. Other loves of his life were manning the BBQ for family and friends in his perfectly manicured backyard with a tall drink in his hand. With his quirky sense of humor, Paul was the perfect host for all occasions. He was a great joke teller with always an attentive audience and was well known as a prankster, which made him so enjoyable to be around. Above all he was a loving and caring man who was always there for his family and friends. He was able to spread warmth on the coldest of days and could bring a smile to any saddened face. He has touched the hearts of all those who were blessed to have known him. The family would like to thank the staff of CancerCare Manitoba, Concordia Hospital, Unit 3 North, the staff in ICU and all attending doctors involved in his care. Prayers will be on Monday, December 29, at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 30, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anne's Ukrainian Catholic Church, 455 Douglas Avenue with Father Walter Klimchuk officiating.
