Obituary of Alma Schroffel
Alma Schroffel (Thierman) January 10, 1918 - April 24, 2010 Alma Schroffel died peacefully on Saturday, April 24, 2010 at St. Boniface General Hospital, Winnipeg, Manitoba at the age of 92 years. She was predeceased by her husband Edward Schroffel and her sister Georgina Kowerko. She is survived by her daughter Marilyn Blais (Richard) and her son Edward R. Schroffel (Shirley). She also leaves to mourn brother-in-law Clarence Kowerko, numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephew and great-great-nephew. Alma spent many winters in Arizona with her loving husband Edward prior to his passing and then on her own for 25 years. There she enjoyed spending time with her many friends doing craftwork, lawn bowling, playing cards and she especially enjoyed the weather. Here in Winnipeg each summer she returned to her cottage at Brereton Lake in the Whiteshell Provincial Park. She spent many hours working in her flower beds both at the cottage and at her home in Winnipeg. In her last days she was surrounded by family and friends making her hospital stay as caring and loving as possible.
The family would like to thank the staffs of Mountain Vista Medical Center in Mesa Arizona and St. Boniface General Hospital in Winnipeg and in particular the staff of 5E at St. Boniface Hospital for their kindness, respect and compassion. We are also grateful for the comfort, prayers and visitations by Clarence Kowerko and Msgr. L. McCloskey.
Prayers will take place at 7:00 pm Thursday, April 29 at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street, Winnipeg, MB. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at 2:00 pm Friday, April 30 at St Theresa's Church, 3597 Main Street, West St. Paul, MB with Msgr. L. McCloskey presiding. Interment will follow at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens, 4477 Main Street, West St. Paul.
Pallbearers are Bobby Kowerko, Kathy Groves, Blaine Kowerko, Randy Kowerko, Loreen Lawrence and Garret Groves.
