Obituary of Walter SMIGELSKY
WALTER SMIGELSKY
February 1, 1931 - March 10, 2011
Walter passed away at the Seven Oaks General Hospital after a lengthy battle with COPD.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Donna; grandson, Kenneth Paulson; son-in-law, Howard Paulson; his special kitty. Misty; and sisters, Halyna Nagurski and Elsie Soltys. He will also be missed by numerous relatives, friends, and co-workers.
Walter was predeceased by his wife, Catherine; daughter, Patricia Paulson; granddaughter, Kristen Paulson; parents, Dokia and Stephen Shmigelsky; mother and father-in-law, Effie and John Semeniuk; sisters, Lynn Taylor, Anne Shmigelsky, Mary Yaremkevich; brothers, William, Gene, and Mike Shmigelsky; and various other relatives.
Walter was born and raised in Vita MB. He attended St Andrews College in Winnipeg MB. He worked for Canada Post, Frontier Meat & Sausage, Ogilvie Flour Mills, and finally retired from the City of Winnipeg Parks and Recreation. He was a quiet and unassuming person who would always be there when you needed him.
The family wishes to thank the home care workers, staff, nurses, and doctors who cared for Walter with dignity, respect, and compassion.
In keeping with Walter's wishes, cremation has taken place. A private family gathering will take place at a later date.
As Walter was very fond of animals, anyone so inclined, may make a donation in Walter's memory to any animal rescue organization of their choice.
