Obituary of Jeannette Smolinski
Jeannette Smolinski
(Nee Wabick)
Mar. 6 1947 - Aug. 18 2009
After a valiant 9 year battle with brain cancer, Jeannette passed away peacefully with her family at her side.
Left to cherish her memories are: her husband of 40 years, Charlie, daughters Heather and Natalie, mother Rose Wabick, sister Diane (Jim) Graham, brothers Don (Elsie) and David (Phyllis) Wabick and numerous nephews and nieces.
Jeannette was born and raised in the Neepawa area and upon graduation from high school achieved her teaching certificate to commence a varied career, first as a teacher in Dauphin. After marrying, Jeannette and Charlie moved throughout Western and Northern Canada with stops at Prince Albert, Baker Lake, La Ronge, Churchill, Thunder Bay and Winnipeg.
Jeannette's innovative and positive attitude to change enabled her to evolve in her career accomplishments without sacrificing her dedication to her family.
Jeannette's illness resulted in an early retirement from her last position in the Computer Science field with Agriculture Canada.
Viewing and prayers will be held on Sunday August 23rd from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, August 24th at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Perpetual Help R.C. Church, 4588 Roblin Boulevard with Rev. Msgr. Maurice Comeault, P. H. presiding. Cremation to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jeannette's memory to the Riverview Health Centre's Palliative Care Unit or Cancer Care Manitoba.
