Obituary of Patricia Tarnava
PATRICIA LOUISE TARNAVA nee DOYLE
Patricia Louise Tarnava passed away suddenly on Friday, October 8, 2010 with her husband Jack by her side. Pat was predeceased by her father Walter Doyle (1945), her sister Rosemary Doyle (1973) and her mother Marguerite (Kelpin) Doyle (1980). She will be missed and lovingly remembered by her devoted husband Jack, her sisters Shirley Ann Gallagher and Geri (George) Jarvis along with numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Pat graduated from St. Mary's Academy in 1944 and continued this association by acting in many positions on the SMA Alumnae Board from 1963 - 1979 as a Director, Treasurer, President and Past President. Pat and Jack first met while they were employed with the CPR. They were married in 1973. Pat and Jack were long-time sports enthusiasts with bowling, golf, hockey and season ticket holders to the Bomber games. Pat was also very involved with the arts. She was on the Board of the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra and regularly attended the Winnipeg Ballet, Opera and the Manitoba Theater Centre. Pat worked as an accountant at many of the CPR hotels - Palliser (in Calgary), Banff Springs Hotel, Royal Alex Hotel and the Lombard. She retired from the University of Manitoba in 1984 as manager of accounting at the U of M Centre on the Fort Garry Campus. Pat enjoyed interacting with the members of the choir at St. John Brebeuf and participating in the functions of the church community.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, October 15th at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Brebeuf Roman Catholic Church - 1707 John Brebeuf Place.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
The family would like to thank the Fire/Paramedic Services and staff at the St. Boniface Hospital Emergency Department for their caring and respectful support.
