Obituary of George WATT
GEORGE ALTON WATT
April 16, 1926 - December 26, 2008
Suddenly on December 26, 2008 at Health Sciences Centre, George Watt, beloved father, stepfather, grandfather and brother passed away.
George is survived by his children Margot (Jack), Doug (Nikayla), David (Dana), Richard (K.J.) and Lianne (Larry) and stepchildren John (Brenda) and Bonnie; also grandchildren, stepgrandchildren and their families. He will also be missed by his sisters Dorothy and Doreen.
He was predeceased by his wife of 34 years Mary; his parents Margaret and Stewart; brothers Donald, John and Roy; sisters Clarice, Lila, Iva and son-in-law Cam.
George was a kind, generous and loving man. Because of his and Mary's deep fondness for children, together they supported many children's charities over the years, His caring also extended to the welfare of animals. A testament to this was his rescue of a part wolf pup shot and left for dead at an isolated camping spot in Northern Manitoba.
George and Mary enjoyed long hours of fishing and camping . They would hike to remote areas in Northern Manitoba, set up camp and spend the time fishing and enjoying the company of friends.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, January 10 at 2:00 p.m. at West End Christian Community Church, 221 Hampton Street.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in George's memory to the Children's Hospital Research Foundation or the Winnipeg Humane Society.
