Obituary of William YANZ
WILLIAM (BILL) YANZ
After a brief illness, William Yanz died peacefully on Tuesday, September 30, 2008, at Victoria Hospital. He was predeceased by his father Philip and mother Mary; brothers Alexander and Joseph; sister Annie Harrison; and brothers-in-law Frank Blonski and Alphonse Harrison.
He will be lovingly remembered by his sister Mary, brother Henry (Eileen), nieces Marlene (Steve), Adeline (Pete); nephews Larry (Elsie), Clint (Dale), Tom (Marj), Joey (Colleen), Stan (Gert); grand-nephew Darryl, grand-niece Deborah (Kevin) and numerous other grand-nephews and grand-nieces.
William was born in Winnipeg on April 5, 1916. Bill was a member of the Canadian Armed Forces after which he worked at Dominion Bridge with his brother-in-law Frank for many years. He loved to pass the time talking with family and friends and watching the Price is Right! He also enjoyed the occasional trip to the casino. His wit and sense of humour will be missed by all who knew him.
A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, October 5 at 2:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St.
The family would like to thank the staff of Victoria Hospital who helped make Bill's last days as comfortable as possible.
In lieu of flowers or as a memoriam, those wishing to do so may make a donation in Bill's memory to the Canadian Cancer Society.
