Obituary of Olga ZALUSKI
OLGA ZALUSKI
(DYRDA)
Peacefully on August 7, 2009, our Mom, Olga passed away at Fred Douglas Lodge at the age of 99 years.
She was predeceased by her husband Nicholas on August 25, 1986.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters Mary (Peter) Goodz, Helen (Roger) Laurin and Linda (Barry Dunn). She will be sadly missed and remembered by her 4 grandchildren Laurie Buxman, Chris Goodz, Wendy Williams and Lisa Gorman; 11 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Mother was born in a small village in Poland on January 11, 1910. At the age of 18 she left Poland with her cousin Anne and came to Canada in search of a new life. For several years she worked for prosperous farmers in the Russell, Angusville area, eventually coming to Winnipeg where she met our Father. They married in 1932 and spent their 55 years of marriage in Winnipeg. Mom worked for the T. Eaton Company for 25 years, retiring to enjoy time with grandchildren, gardening and taking life easy. Gardening was her life.
We will always remember the Christmas and Easter dinners at her home and the wonderful Ukrainian food she prepared. She was a great cook and baker. Mom always enjoyed socializing with her children at the cottage and having dinners out. She enjoyed casino bus trips and loved her trips to Las Vegas.
The family thanks the staff at Fred Douglas Lodge (Evergreen) for the loving care they provided to our mother.
A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, August 19, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Interment to follow at Brookside Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Olga's memory to CNIB, 1080 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg MB R3G 3M3.
We love you Mom and Baba
Rest in Peace
