Obituary of Nena Sawelo
Nina was born in Czecstochow, Poland December 7, to German/Russian parents. She was trained in the fine art of decorating porcelain at a vocational school in Selb, Germany. Nina was married to a Ukrainian tradesman and learned her 5th language of English to become a Canadian immigrant. She loved to read and write poetry, photography, painting landscapes, scrapbooking and corresponding with relatives were among her favorite pastimes along with a passion for music & singing She was devoted to her Orthodox religion and appreciated Canadian history. Nina received an award for celebrating Canada’s 125th anniversary from the Governor General’s Office.
Her sudden and tragic death has moved so many that remember her generosity of giving chocolates and toffee’s. Nina only hoped of seeing a smile in return, and so aptly named her ‘The Candy Lady’.
God is love.
