Obituary of ANITA DOROTHE ISABELLE CAPEK

ANITA DOROTHE ISABELLE CAPEK It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Mother, grandmother & great-grandmother, Anita Dorothe Isabelle Capek (nee Chamberland) on June 1st, 2020 at Middlechurch Home at the age of 91. Left to cherish her memory are children: Jim(Donna); Rob(Janet), Mary Anne: grandchildren: Shane, Kevin, Alicia (Jay); Ryan, Lauren and great-grandson Carter. Anita leaves behind siblings: Liliane, Annette, Florence, Leo(Martha), Charles(Mariann), Eddie(Jackie), Ron(Heidi) & Daniel. Anita was predeceased by her loving husband Andrew in 1989, and 2 sons Michael (July 2000) & Paul (May 2008), as well as her parents and siblings Victor, Helene, Rudy, Tony and Allan. Anita was born on February 27, 1929, the first of 14 children of Jeanne & Joseph Chamberland, raised in Ste-Genevieve, MB. In 1948, while employed at a sewing factory in Winnipeg Mom met her husband to be, Andy. They married on July 14, 1951 and in November 1954 Michael arrived. They moved to Regent Ave in formerly rural Transcona in 1955, where 4 more children completed her family. She then became a lifelong resident of Transcona. They moved the family to Edward Ave in 1978 where she spent her final 11 years together with Dad. In July 1988, Mom and Dad traveled to Rome, Italy where Dad was part of the St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic choir singing for Pope John Paul II at St. Peter's Basilica. It was a trip of a lifetime, and timely as Dad passed away the following February. At age 84, needing to lead a simpler and safer life, Mom moved to her new apartment in 2013, spending the next 7 years making new friends, including a lovely 90th birthday celebration that was a big surprise. In March, after a difficult 6 months of health issues, Mom moved into Middlechurch personal care home and quickly adjusted. She made it easy on us, even though we couldn't visit her for much of her time there as the pandemic hit. Mom, we didn't expect to lose you so suddenly and we miss you so much already. We are comforted that you are reunited with Dad, Mike and Paul. You collected numerous decorative angels to comfort you in your home...and now you are one. Until we meet again, we love you. Special thanks to the staff at Deer Lodge Centre and B2 wing of Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg. Also a special thanks to Father Isidore of St. Nicholas Church, who has always been so good to Mom and our family. A private family funeral will be held in the near future and a celebration of life at a later date.
