Obituary of KATIE CHIC
Katie Chic
Oct 25, 1942 – Nov 12, 2021
It is with profound sorrow that the family of Katie Chic (nee Drozda) announces her passing at the age of 79 on Nov 12, 2021. Katie is survived by sons Randall (Jeannette) and Daniel, daughter Cindy, granddaughter Kylie and her beloved cat Buddy. Also left to mourn are brother-in-law Abe Hiebert, nieces Shelly (Doug) Beesley, Melody Hiebert, nephew Kurt (Shelley) Hiebert, great nieces Kayla and Cassandra (Mom- Kathy), Emily and great nephew Matthew. Katie is predeceased by her husband Tony, parents Marion and Nellie Drozda, sister Mary Hiebert, nephew Brad Hiebert and inlaws Wasyl and Mary Chic.
Katie was born in Rembrandt, Manitoba where she developed her life-long love for animals. She moved to Winnipeg in 1960 where she met her husband Tony in 1961, marrying the love of her life in June 1963. Katie and Tony lived in Winnipeg for most of their years together, raising their three children and spending time together in their years of retirement.
Katie worked at various jobs including Richardsons and Dominion Printing, until starting at Canadian Tire Isabel where she worked for 23 years. She loved her job and meeting people at her position of hardware clerk. After retiring in 2002 she enjoyed gardening, yard work, painting, cooking and helping her kids with whatever needed to be done. Both her cat Buddy and her rock garden gave her immense pride. Mom enjoyed company and immediately made sure you were fed and she always made holidays special. She will be dearly missed and has left countless memories for us to cherish, and will live on in all of our hearts. She has touched the lives of many and brought love to all who knew her.
