GEORGE GOUSCHUK

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of George Gouschuk on January 26, 2022 at the age of 90.

George’s cherished memory will continue to live through the lives of his family; siblings John, Ron, Billy and Irene, daughter-in-law Daryl, grand-daughters Candace (James), Jodi (Louis), Sheri (Jason), great-grandchildren Alex, Samantha, Danny, Tyler, Ryan, Aidan and great-great grandson Thomas. Along with numerous in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews and many dear friends he has made over the years, especially his cherished friendship with Florence.

George was predeceased by his beloved wife of 60 years, Adeline and their two sons Dale and Lyle in 2014. Also predeceased by his daughter-in-law Anne, his parents Steve & Laura and ten siblings; Peter, Vera, Mary, Effie, Lena, Helen, Jane, Annie, Katie and Fred.

George was the 6th of 15 children. Born on July 12, 1931 in Pelly, Saskatchewan. In his early teens the family moved to Swan River, MB where George continued his schooling and then went on to become a truck driver.

George also met the love of his life in Swan River. He married Adeline on June 20, 1953. They raised their two sons in Swan River and in ‘64 George decided to trade the trucks for a Greyhound bus! In 1966 the family moved to Winnipeg, where they made many lifelong friendships. George continued to drive for Greyhound until his retirement in Nov.1991. After retirement George and Adeline moved to St. Andrews, where they loved spending time together tending their flower beds and gardens and enjoying their visits with family and many friends.

In 2020 after some health concerns, George resided at Red River Personal Care home in Selkirk until his passing. Special thanks to the wonderful staff at RRP for all their care and compassion.

A private gathering will be held Feb.4 at 11:00 am at the Cropo Funeral Chapel. Interment to follow at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to a charity of your choice.

"We miss you now, our hearts are sore. As time goes by we miss you more. Your loving smile, your gentle face, no one can fill your vacant space."
