Obituary of JOSIP (JOSO) CINDRIC

1 April 1938 - 5 Nov 2022

Peacefully on Saturday, November 5, 2022 our dear husband, dad/tata and dida passed away after a short battle with cancer.  He will be lovingly remembered and missed by his wife Marija, his daughter Diana (Kelly), his daughter Nancy (Jason), his grandchildren Elle, Alex, Ava and Zachary, his sister Mica, sisters-in-law Anica (Matiya) and Bozica, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.  He also leaves behind family friends Marijan, Jelena, Antony (Ola), Nikola and Adriana (Daniel), whose love and support for their Kum Joso has meant so much over the years.  He is predeceased by his parents Mile and Dragica, father/mother-in-law Nikola and Marica, siblings Marija (Mate), Jago, Kate and Mile (Kate) and brothers in-law Ivica, Jure and Ivan.

Joso was born April 1, 1938 in Glinica, Croatia.  He was the fifth of six children. Losing his parents at a young age, he quickly demonstrated the kind of man he would be by taking responsibility for the care of his family and their farm.  In 1966 he immigrated to Canada after deciding to leave his country in search of a different life.  He settled in Winnipeg, Manitoba and in November 1967 he married his love Marija Komadina, spending 54 years of marriage together.  He was blessed with two daughters, Diana in 1974 and Nancy in 1977.  He was always passionate about encouraging his daughters to study hard and was supportive in helping them achieve their goals and dreams in life.

Joso worked hard at his trade as a carpenter.  Learning everything there was to know and taking great pride in his work.  He was always willing to lend a helping hand to those who needed it.  Finally, at the age of 74, he decided to retire and focus on the other joys in his life.  He loved to watch hockey, soccer, a good Clint Eastwood western or any and all nature programs.  He also loved spending time with friends at the church picnic grounds on Sundays, or on a quiet family drive to the A&W in Lockport.  Most of all he was always up for an exciting game of bocce.

These things came second to spending time with his grandchildren.  Dida had a playful heart and always loved to tease.  He also loved to give them all his wonderful words of wisdom – go to school, study hard and don’t be lazy.

We would like to thank all the family and friends who supported us through this difficult time.  Also, all the nurses, doctors and support staff at St. Boniface Hospital and Riverview Health Centre, who provided the best care during his time of need.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, November 10, 2022 at St. Nicholas Tavelich Church, 2688 Main Street.  Viewing will begin at 9:00 a.m., prayer vigil at 9:30 a.m., followed by 10:00 am service.  Private family interment at Glen Eden Cemetery.  If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the Cancer Care Manitoba Foundation or Riverview Health Centre Foundation.
