I want to send my condolences to Canada's longest-serving and oldest-living active lawyer on the passing of a tireless advocate.
I happened to cross paths with a man and a woman while attending a special event. They were born during a time when The King's Representative would later become The Queen's Representative. She received a commemorative souvenir. Her and her sister spent a lot of time marvelling at the pictures in the book that featured the two little girls who happened to be sisters. One day, her and her younger sister accompanied by their parents, was ascending on an escalator when they heard a sudden boom on a loudspeaker.
The younger sister died (less than) one year before the elder one recited the Oath. The man and woman were anxious to officially enter their golden years when it just so happened that someone would turn down a prestigious offer after taking [five months] to decide. A sudden transition occured. The then-little girl would be watching the first-ever live televised ascension of a British monarch followed by many other vows that the new monarch made to The Church of England, 59 years after the then-Lieutenant Governor (who became a widower two months after the death of King George VI) watched the first-ever live televised coronation of a monarch, just two months before the longest serving Head of State in Manitoba's history (insisted that no alcohol be served) passed on the reins.
The lifelong mission of the friend of the best friend of Mr. Pappas' second cousin once inserted is now complete. And the former King's Representative shall live in unending joy.
