Obituary of JOHN BARYLUK
John passed away peacefully at Seven Oaks hospital. He was born in Stuartburn, MB. on January 7, Ukrainian Christmas Day, to parents Nicholas and Joan Baryluk. “WHAT A CELEBRATION”.
He and the family lived on the farm where the father ran a flour mill. As a young boy the family moved to Winnipeg. He went to Aberdeen school and then to Tec Voc. Shortly after finishing school, he met the love of his life Elsie Kawaler. I reluctantly needed to represent my parents at a wedding. Once there, met her friend Teresa Baryluk and apparently with her brothers. Who knew she even had brothers let alone my handsome future husband.
We were married on November 7, 1959. Soon after, daughters Angela and Barbara were born. Life was hectic but good. There were lots of roads through Canada and the U.S.A. Long car rides, especially every Sunday after church from June to September, first initially to Grand Beach and later on Winnipeg Beach with extended family throughout our 64 ½ years of marriage. Our daughters got married and grandchildren came. If we weren’t travelling with friends, family, or Barb to Hawaii, Alaska, Carribean Cruise and various Manitoba towns, he was enjoying watching grandchildren sports games, attending their events, and playing cards with them till health got him in his later years.
John worked for almost 40 years for the city of Winnipeg Parks and Recs department in various capacities ending as supervisor before retiring.
