Obituary of ZENA MARUSENKO
Zena died peacefully at home on Thursday, February 15, 2024.
Zena was born in the village of Borise in the Kyiv area on September 14, 1929.
She was predeceased by her husband Paul Marusenko and by all her siblings Boris Demchenko (wife Inga Demchenko deceased), Victor Demchenko (wife Stella Demchenko), Mary Spence (husband Sam Spence deceased).
Zena is survived by children Olga Marusenko (Mark Mitchel) Winnipeg, Walter Marusenko Winnipeg, John Paul Marusenko (spouse Salima Marusenko) Vancouver. She is survived by grandchildren Noah and Alisha; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
Zena grew up in Krivij Rih the Donbas region.
She met her husband in Germany after WWII. Her family immigrated to Canada in 1949 and moved to Portage la Prairie, MB. Later she married Paul Marusenko in 1950 and raised their family in Winnipeg.
Her hobbies were needlepoint, sewing and she created many pictures which filled her home. She enjoyed volunteering at the Church, making perogies and visiting sick members of the Parish.
Prayers will be held on Monday, February 26 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Mary the Protectress Sobor, 820 Burrows at Sinclair. Funeral Rite will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. also at the Church. Interment will follow in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens, 4477 Main Street.
