Obituary of MARIA JUDITE GATA
MARIA JUDITE GATA
October 30, 1946 – March 4, 2024
Peacefully, surrounded by her family, Maria passed away at the age of 77 years.
She is predeceased by her husband Eduardo and brother Jose Antonio Branquinho.
Maria will be forever remembered and missed by her children Paula (Tony), David (Melissa), and Grandchildren Isabella, Dominic, Angelica and Miguel. She also leaves her sisters Teresa Catojo and Eduarda Raposo, brother Adriano Branquinho and numerous godchildren, nieces and nephews.
She immigrated to Canada to be with the love of her life Eduardo in 1969 and to get married that same year. She was known for her excellent cooking and baking skills. Everything she cooked was with special magic, love, and tasted exceptional! Nobody was ever able to replicate any of her recipes. Her positive and calm attitude was admired by us all as she always focused on the positive and simple things, she chose happiness always right to her last day.
Maria loved to laugh and spend time with her grandchildren. Spending time with them is what she adored the most. She will most be remembered for her strength and her courage. Maria has inspired and shown many to express love and compassion, and her lessons will be passed down for years to come.
If any friends desire donations can be made to the Children's Hospital Foundation of Manitoba.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street at 10:00 a.m. with interment to follow in Assumption Cemetery, 3990 Portage Avenue.
