Obituary of CHRISTOPHER THOMAS HEILMANN
Christopher Thomas Heilmann
September 30, 1976 — March 25, 2024
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved Christopher after a courageous battle with cancer. Chris was a loving father, brother, nephew, cousin and friend.
Chris is predeceased by his parents Peter and Kathy, brother Curtis, and his daughter baby Maya.
He leaves to mourn his beloved partner and soul mate Tanya, whose love and strength carried him through this difficult battle, along with the support of Tanya’s children Alyssa and Nick.
Chris leaves behind his sister; Samantha, niece; Danielle (Jason and Jayden), nephew; Clayton, Aunt Janis, Godmother; Elaine, uncles; Chris & Henry, cousins; Jeremy, Ann-Marie (Franco), Naomi (Desmond), Jason, Kelly (Tim), David (Amanda), in-laws; Eva, Lyle (Sophie Maya/Lukas Curtis), Kurt (Silvana), Sean (Christina), Madison, Kate, Alice and Tristan.
Chris graduated from Maples Colligate where he met many lifelong friends.
He played hockey throughout his life and supported the Winnipeg Jets. He followed in his father’s footsteps in construction where he excelled as a master craftsman. There was nothing he couldn’t fix or build from cabins, houses, fences to many commercial buildings throughout Winnipeg which he was very proud of, when you went for a ride with him he would always say “I built that building."
He was an avid fisherman spending a lifetime at Wallace Lake with family and friends. There wasn’t a day where he would come back empty handed… His stringers fed many family and friends. He was always ready to help others...he was the first one we called if something was broken! He was a true friend to many...the first one to help; he would give his shirt off his back for anyone.
There are many friends who will miss Christopher; we would like to especially thank Beau and Sari who supported Chris and Tanya over the years throughout this journey. A heart felt thank you to Dr. Maksymiuk, Dr. K. Toews, Nurse Rhonda at Bethesda Regional Hospital and the rest of the staff on the second floor.
You fought the fight to the very end, never giving up in true Chris fashion, no matter what was thrown at you throughout your life your strength and positive attitude persisted.
You are at peace.
