Obituary of JOAN MOSES
1937-2024
Joan Moses of Winnipeg peacefully passed away with her family by her side on Thursday, May 30, 2024 at the age of 86.
She was predeceased by her sister Bernice, her father Felix and her mother Christiana.
Joan is survived by her sons Ron Henry (Carol) and Peter Henry (Beverly), 6 grandchildren; Laura (Mat), Alex (Katrina), Rachel, Carmen, Lucas (Teighlor), Isaac (Tiana), great granddaughter Aria; Hugh Moses; sisters Angela, Gloria (Winston); brothers Frank (Marisca) and Gabriel (Merle) and numerous nieces and nephews and extended family.
Joan was born and raised in Trinidad and Tobago and came to Canada with her family in 1969.
She worked for many years as a ward clerk at Misericordia Hospital. She served her community through the local church food bank, Our Place Chez Nous Drop In Centre, Thrive Thrift Shop and served on the Board for the Lay Franciscans.
Her faith and her family were of the utmost importance to her. Joan had a strong devotion to Mary and prayed for her family and friends. She was an active member of many prayer circles. She lived the Gospel and gave refuge to people in need. Mom was nurturing, welcoming, kind, generous, full of life, strong and very proud of her family. She wasn’t afraid to speak her mind and stood up for those who couldn’t.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Residence Despins, Extendicare Maples, Actionmarguerite St. Joseph PCH for their amazing care and the ER staff at St. Boniface Hospital. The family is grateful for Joan’s friends who have been there for her and prayed with and for her over the years.
Prayers and viewing will be held on Wednesday, June 5, 2024 from 7:00 to 8:00 pm at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, June 6, 2024 at 11:00 am at Holy Redeemer Parish, 264 Donwood Drive, with Rosary preceding at 10:30 am; Father Anthony Austin presiding. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery, 3990 Portage Avenue.
If friends so desire, donations in memory of Joan may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba.
