Obituary of JOSEPHINE (JOSIE) KATHLEEN (ANTOCHOW) MACSYMACH
It is with heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of Josephine Kathleen (Antochow) Macsymach on July 16, 2024 at Seven Oaks Hospital at the age of 72 years.
Josie was predeceased by her parents Peter and Katherine Antochow, sisters Mary (Murray) Yurkiw, Anne (Raymond) Maksymytz, Stella (Bill) Maksymytz, Lena (John) McLeod, Anastasia Antochow, Rose (George) McKenzie, Frances Misuga. Brothers Joseph Antochow, Mike Antochow, John Antochow, Walter Antochow. Brothers-in-law George Velychko, Peter (Verna) McSymach, Leo Macsymach, Mike (Bob) Antonyshen, Wally Derhak, and Sister-in-law Sonia (Matt) Dutchak.
Josie is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Rudy, son Cory and daughter Natasha.
Josie is survived by her four siblings, Stephanie Velychko, Raymond (Bess) Antochow, Margaret Krawchuk, Georgina (John) Skilnik and Billy (Darla) Antochow. Sisters-in-law Diane Antochow, Shirley Antochow, Sonia Macsymach, Jean Derhak, and Sylvia (Murray) Matiowsky. Josie is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family.
Josie was born on April 7, 1952 on the farm in Wishart, Saskatchewan and was the youngest of 16 children. She married Rudy in May 19, 1973 in Wynyard, Saskatchewan and lived and raised a family in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Josie was a foster parent for 35 years to several children. The core foster children were James, Kristen, Willy, and Marina.
The family especially thanks the doctors, nurses and support staff at Seven Oaks Hospital for the care they provided in Josie’s final days.
A Prayer Service will be held on Friday, August 2, 2024 at 7 pm. The Funeral Liturgy will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2024 at 10 am. Both services will be held at St. Joseph’s Ukrainian Catholic Church at 250 Jefferson Avenue. The Ukrainian Catholic Redemptorists will be officiating the services.
If friends desire, donations may be made to Blessed Bishop Vasyl Velychkovsky Martyr’s Shrine or a charity of your choice.
