Obituary of JAMES THOMAS HOUSTON
JAMES THOMAS HOUSTON
July 17, 1948-July 28, 2024
James Thomas Houston passed away suddenly with family by his side on Sunday July 28, 2024 at home, at the age of 76 years.
He was predeceased by his parents Ron and Mary Houston and brothers Brian and Ken.
Jim is survived by his loving wife Kathy, children Christopher and Derek (Melanie), five grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
He also leaves his sister Kathy and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
Jim was born and raised in Winnipeg, North End and attended Andrew Mynarski and Sisler School.
Jim worked for Winnipeg ambulance for 40 years and met his wife Kathy while working and was married in 1986.
Jim had so many hobbies. He was an ametur Radio Operator. Jims call sign was Ve4qh. Everyone knew him by his voice.
Jim was a wonderful musician and played the drums. He would love to play with the guys at The Nic and The Belgian Club.
He loved airplanes and learning how to scuba dive. He visited Hawaii too many times to count and traveled through numerous cities in the U.S.A. and across Canada. He loved England, Scotland and then finally to Northern Ireland, his roots. He walked the streets of Newtownards, County Down, maybe had a drink in the same pub as his grandfather and father.
Since retiring, Jim loved to read, ride his bike and continue to learn. He was enrolled at the University of Winnipeg. Auditing classes he was interested in.
Most of all he loved his wife Kathy and their little dogs, Casey Quinn and Daisy.
His passing has left a huge void in our life. We loved you so much!
Rest in Peace my Jim Bob. I know there was a stampede to get to you at the Rainbow Bridge. I know Zoe was the first one in your arms.
