Obituary of PAULINE BODNARCHUK
PAULINE BODNARCHUK
1946-2024
With broken hearts the family of Pauline Bodnarchuk, lovingly known as Penny, mourns her sudden passing from HSC in Winnipeg, Manitoba, at the age of 78.
Pauline was born in Glenella, Manitoba, to Ben and Euphemia Strewens. Her journey took her from her hometown to Alberta and eventually back to Manitoba, where she began her family life.
Pauline is survived by her loving husband, Ray, her daughter, Stacey, and her son, Greg (Jodi).
Her professional career began at the Winnipeg Tribune, where she worked until its closure in 1980. She then dedicated over 35 years to The Winnipeg Sun, where she worked as the Circulation Manager overseeing the district mangers. She cherished every moment working for the newspaper.
Penny had a profound love for hockey. Even in her later years, she was known for her enthusiastic support of her favorite team, the Winnipeg Jets. A passerby might have looked in surprise at her house hearing screams, only to realize she was cheering joyfully for her team getting a goal.
In addition to her love for hockey, Penny was an avid card player with a fierce competitive streak. Quick-witted and like a human calculator, her Friday night card games were one of the highlights of her week. Her love for card games brought her immense joy, and her competitive nature made every game a lively and spirited affair.
She is also survived by her sister Ollie, her brother Nick, and many nieces and nephews. Pauline was predeceased by her siblings Linda, Mary, Tina, Lil, Millie, Julie, Steve, Emil, Mike, and Cecil.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to all the friends and family who have supported us during this challenging time. Your kindness, compassion, and support, including the thoughtful meals and refreshments, have been a source of great comfort. Whether through kind words, shared memories, or simply your presence, you have helped us through this journey, and we are deeply grateful.
A service to honor Pauline and celebrate her life will be held at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street, on Friday, September 13th, at 1:30 PM. There will be a celebration of life in early October with Close friends and family.
